Bidisha Das

Bidisha Das is a new media artist from Calcutta, India, and currently based in Luxembourg. Working with improvised electronic music and sound-based installations, she employs analog, digital, and self-built instruments within a sustained DIY methodology. Her interdisciplinary practice investigates the intersections of art, natural science, electronic media, and folk culture, exploring how traditional forms and local craft practices inform contemporary technological expression. Das’ projects examine the dialogue between the human and the non-human, questioning systems of perception and the role of technology in shaping awareness. Drawing from non-dual Vedantic philosophy, she studies how sound and electronic media operate beyond binary logics of on/off, real/virtual, and analog/digital. Her recent explorations address the transition of AI technology and the global demand for energy as socio-material phenomena, rethinking the technological “black box” through poetic, sensory, and ecological perspectives that connect scientific curiosity, folk wisdom, and spiritual inquiry.

“Artists and scientists are both asking questions about the world, they’re just doing it in different ways”
