Prairies, Common Threads

During the second week, I found myself walking the prairie quite a bit. I seen a viceroy butterfly, common buckeye butterflies, bog orchids, and many dragonflies. The diversity of native flowers is absolutely special at Lakeside.

I also spent time more time with the aquatic ecology class, which I ended up going out on the pontoon with them to take water samples and test the water for various things. It was really neat watching the students use the equipment and record their findings.

Things that I worked on this week was finishing up my Eastern Swallowtail Painting, working on my “What is Home?” Piece which I recorded a video of me cutting in half. I worked on other work and wrote a lot during this time as well.

Spending time with the writers in residence along side the other artist in residence was really nice. To see things from another’s perspective and the synchronicities in our lives and what brought us to the very moments we were sharing was beautiful. There are common threads shared between all and it is so important to recognize them.
